ADA Compliant Doors
The Act that supports ADA Compliant Doors was signed in 1990. This Act details how building owners can upgrade doors, handles, automatic door openers, and entryways to provide access for anyone with a disability. There are standards for accessible design as well as low energy door openers that are governed by the American National Standards Institute, providing ADA compliance. Some of the regulations for ADA Compliant doors include that the switches are located 5″-12″ from the door, should not be blocked by the door when it opens, and are placed so the person is in the swing path of the door. The mounting height of the switch should be 34″-38″ off the floor, and doorways should provide a clear opening of 32″. The door hardware must operate at 5 pounds of force, and a motion sensor must be used to activate the door with an automatic open.
Automatic Door Systems
Here at Secure Lock and Alarm, our AAADM certified installers specialize in Sliding Doors, Folding Doors, Swing Doors, as well as Manual Doors for hospitals and Intensive Care Units. These installers are significant to creating ease for those entering and exiting the premise. Our installers are also trained Locksmiths, which means they are plentiful in knowledge about the door hardware needed.
